What is a text message (SMS)?
A text message or SMS ("Short Message Service") is a text-based message sent to or received by your mobile phone.
What is a short code?
A short code is a five or six-digit number used as an address for SMS messages that functions like a phone number. The short code for all Mayfield texting programs is 87931.
Are text commands case-sensitive?
No. Commands can be sent in lowercase or all capital letters.
How do I opt out of the texting program?
You can opt out of Mayfield's texting program by texting STOP to 87931. For the account balances texts, you can remove your mobile number by logging in to the Patient Portal on MayfieldClinic.com and visiting the Manage my account page.
What should I do if I get a new phone or phone number?
As long as you have the same phone number, you don't need to do anything to continue texting with us. If your phone number changes, you will have to delete your old number and add your new one. To update your phone number, just log in to the Patient Portal on MayfieldClinic.com.
How much does it cost?
Mayfield does not charge for this service, but your carrier's message and data rates may apply to each text message sent or received, including error messages. Your wireless carrier will charge you for each text message sent or received according to the terms of the service agreement with your carrier.
Who can see my mobile number?
In order to send you the information you ask for, Mayfield will have a record of your mobile number. We keep it confidential and will not use it for any purpose other than to communicate directly with you and to help you participate in the program(s) you agree to that are listed above. We will not let anyone other than Mayfield employees or contractors see your mobile number without your permission, unless we are required by law to disclose it.
How do I get help or support for the texting program?
For help, text HELP to 87931 anytime. If you have questions, please contact Mayfield Web Support Help Desk at 513-221-1100 or 800-325-7787. We are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., EST.
Will Mayfield texts work on my mobile phone?
Mayfield texts will work as long as your carrier supports text messaging. Check with your carrier for details about text messaging charges.
Is Mayfield texting secure?
A wireless text message is not a secure communication. You should never send sensitive personal information by text message. However:
- We do not send any sensitive personal information via text message
- We do not send unsolicited text messages
- Mayfield texting is covered by our terms and privacy policy
