Mayfield Brain & Spine launches leadership transition, names Radomski as interim CEO
CINCINNATI – Mayfield Brain & Spine, the leading neurosurgery practice in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, has appointed Michael Radomski as interim chief executive officer and established a search committee to identify a permanent CEO. The moves follow the resignation of Mark Farrington, who will leave Mayfield Jan. 22 for a professional opportunity in New Jersey.
The transition plan was announced to Mayfield employees and health system partners in early January. Dr. Andrew Ringer, a neurosurgeon and chairman of Mayfield's Board of Directors, said the transition will ensure Mayfield continues to serve patients with leading-edge neurosurgical care, expand services and fulfill its mission.
"Mark has helped lead our organization through some challenging times, and his strategic focus and innovative planning have put Mayfield on a path to sustainable growth," Ringer said. "Under Mark's leadership, we sustained our historic focus on serving our patients with excellence, and that will continue. Mark had big shoes to fill when he came to Mayfield in 2011, and he leaves big shoes for our next CEO to fill."
Radomski, a 1981 graduate of Miami University and a certified public accountant, has been vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Mayfield since 1990. He will retain those responsibilities during the transitional period. The search committee appointed by the board of directors will launch a national search for a new CEO, including internal candidates.
Farrington joined Mayfield in 2011 after serving as CEO of Culicchia Neurological Clinic in Louisiana. His tenure has been marked by collaboration with Mayfield physicians to advance Mayfield's mission of clinical and research excellence. He has a distinguished record of health care leadership in neurosurgery practices around the country. Under his leadership, Mayfield has completed the transition from the University of Cincinnati's neurosurgery department, completed collaborative agreements with other regional health systems and developed services including Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy – offering patients a complete portfolio of neurosurgery-focused services.
