Mayfield Clinic Constructing New Corporate and Clinical Offices at Rookwood Exchange

CINCINNATI - The Mayfield Clinic and Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc., unveiled plans today for new clinical and administrative office space in the new Rookwood Exchange complex in Norwood. K4 Architecture is serving as architect and project manager for the 45,000 square foot construction project, which is scheduled for completion by mid-summer. The corporate and clinical office space will be constructed by Design Build Solutions LLC.

The project will consolidate four Mayfield office sites into one convenient location. The consolidation includes clinical offices at the University of Cincinnati Medical Arts Building, The Christ Medical Office Building and the TriHealth Pavilion, as well as Mayfield's historic administrative offices at Oak Street.

According to Mark Farrington, Mayfield's CEO, "This is an incredible opportunity for us. It will enable us to improve care, comfort, and access for our patients, become more efficient, and avoid costly maintenance and remodeling costs we are facing at multiple sites. More importantly, it gives us a unique opportunity to strengthen our culture and enable us to work more effectively with our hospital partners."

The new space will include 30 clinical examination rooms, primary clinical offices for 15 physicians, and separate space for on-site physical therapy and x-ray. More than 100 of Mayfield's 160 employees will be located in the consolidated offices, which will include the latest technology for patient treatment, education and care. Patients, visitors and staff will enjoy easy access right off the interstate, complimentary and covered parking with direct access to Mayfield's office, as well as the many amenities available in the building and surrounding complex. In addition, the new offices will be directly across I-71 from the minimally invasive outpatient spine surgery center and education/training facilities that have also been developed by Mayfield.

JR Anderson, Anderson's VP of Development, says Mayfield's involvement takes the Rookwood Exchange development project to an entirely new level. "There are a number of high-profile healthcare facilities surrounding the property, but having a nationally recognized neurosurgery practice based on our property is incredible. It's a win-win for everyone—the other tenants in the building, the consumers who visit our businesses, and of course the residents and community of Norwood and throughout the region."

While the new Rookwood Exchange location will serve as Mayfield's headquarters, the neurosurgery practice will also maintain full-time clinical offices in West Chester, Fairfield, Western Hills, and Northern Kentucky, several part-time clinical offices in Clifton and throughout the region, and its academic offices at the University of Cincinnati Department of Neurosurgery.

"We have discussed the benefits of consolidation for several years, but the opportunities with this space were frankly too significant to ignore," said Farrington, who has served as Mayfield's CEO since 2011. "We have so much history, especially at our corporate offices at Oak Street. It will always be part of our rich heritage, and we are working on several initiatives to ensure that it is preserved."

Mayfield plans to move corporate offices into the new facility by the summer of 2015, with clinical offices transitioning to the new space over the following 12 months.
