Company Profile
The Mayfield Clinic of Cincinnati, Ohio, has treated hundreds of thousands of patients since its establishment in 1937 by Frank H. Mayfield, MD. Internationally recognized as a leader in neurological surgery, Mayfield has forged a rich and lasting heritage through technical innovation, research, and a commitment to patient care. Mayfield physicians are continuously recognized among the Best Doctors in America and Top Doctors in Greater Cincinnati.
Mayfield Brain & Spine
Mayfield Brain & Spine treated more than 30,000 patients from 39 states in 2023. Mayfield's care teams are organized into five specialty areas: spine health, brain tumors, neurovascular, Chiari malformation and neurofunctional disorders. Mayfield providers see patients in six convenient locations throughout Cincinnati, Dayton and Northern Kentucky. Our physicians work in our free-standing outpatient spine surgery center as well as 14 hospitals.
When people think of Mayfield, the first word that comes to mind is likely to be neurosurgery. It may come as a surprise, then, to learn that 80% of Mayfield's spine patients get better without surgery. Our multidisciplinary team includes board-certified specialists in physical medicine and rehabilitation, interventional pain management, neurosurgery as well as licensed physical therapists and advanced practice providers.
Our Affiliates
Mayfield Physical Therapy is an integrated, in-house service providing a continuum of spine and neurologic rehabilitation before and after surgery. Treatments range from custom-designed strengthening programs to therapeutic ultrasound to dry needling and bracing. In addition, Mayfield has a core Physical Therapy Network. Members of the network are required to comply with stringent guidelines regarding the therapy of our brain and spine patients.
A partnership of United Surgical Partners International (USPI) and the Mayfield Clinic, the Mayfield Spine Surgery Center offers same-day minimally invasive surgery and procedures for patients whose spine problems can be treated without an overnight stay. The state-of-the-art center supports three operating rooms and two pain procedure suites in a comfortable, patient-focused environment. Since its opening, almost 60,000 surgeries and procedures have been performed at the Center by the region's most experienced spine surgeons.
The Mayfield Education & Research Foundation is an independent, 501c3 not-for-profit organization that exists to advance the care of patients with brain and spine disorders through leading-edge education and research. Founded in 1978 to commemorate the retirement of Dr. Frank H. Mayfield, the foundation supports and sustains his legacy by promoting research and development alongside accessible, relevant education for physicians, patients and their families, and the community at large.
