Mayfield Brain & Spine specialists named among the region's best doctors
Mayfield Brain & Spine is proud to recognize 18 of our specialists – 13 neurosurgeons and five Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation specialists – who are recognized on 2020 lists of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky's top doctors, as compiled by Cincinnati Magazine, Northern Kentucky Magazine and Cincy Magazine.
Dr. Andrew Ringer, a vascular neurosurgeon and chairman of Mayfield's Board of Directors, said the honors show the impact of Mayfield's mission in the community, providing the most advanced neurosurgical care to patients challenged by complex conditions including strokes, brain tumors or back pain.
"Mayfield's ability to deliver across all subspecialty areas of brain and spine care, along with a longstanding commitment to research and innovation, makes us the most highly recognized neurosurgical practice in the region and one of the most admired in the world," he said. "We are proud of these specialists, and all of our Mayfield providers, for improving the lives of our patients and delivering excellent care."
The Mayfield physicians recognized include:
Neurological or spine surgeons
Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Dr. Orlando was honored for Interventional Pain Management on the Cincy Magazine list. He said it's an honor to help patients "get a little bit of their life back with pain relief when everything else seems uncontrollable," particularly this year during the COVID-19 outbreak.
"Patients have not been able to get into gyms or do their normal workouts," he said. "Our interventional procedures and medical management re-energize them to find ways to be active, while reducing suffering from the acute or chronic situation when they are in pain that weighs heavily on their daily existence. We provide hope, positive answers and interventions in a desperate time for them, mentally and physically."
Mayfield's neurosurgical specialists have subspecialty training in the treatment of brain tumors, skull base tumors, brain aneurysms, stroke, Chiari malformation, spinal disease, scoliosis and complex spinal deformity. Their expertise ranges from minimally invasive procedures to open cranial and spinal procedures.
Mayfield's physical medicine & rehabilitation specialists are experts at diagnosing and treating acute or chronic back and neck pain. They offer non-invasive treatments (such as physical therapy, massage, exercise and braces) as well as minimally invasive interventions for pain (such as steroid injections, nerve blocks and ablations, and spinal cord stimulation).
