Mayfield leads the way using Mazor X technology
Michael Kachmann, MD, performed the first surgery at an ambulatory surgery center in Ohio using the Mazor X Stealth Edition™ Robotic Guidance Platform. Dr. Kachmann says, “The ability to now use this system in an outpatient setting ensures that we are continuing to provide the most advanced techniques for our patients." The surgery was performed at the Mayfield Spine Surgery Center in September.

Less invasive treatment for subdural hematoma
Andrew Ringer, MD, co-authored an article in the Journal of Neurosurgery showing chronic subdural hematomas in older people can be safely treated using middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization. Blood clots on the brain surface are most often caused by a head injury. Embolization is a minimally invasive treatment that stops the bleeding and carries lower risk than surgery.
