18 Mayfield Physicians Named to National, Regional ‘Best Doctors’ Lists

CINCINNATI–The Mayfield Clinic proudly reports that 18 of its specialists have been named to the latest regional and national lists of leading physicians.

In its December-January issue, Cincy magazine published the names of 518 tristate physicians who are listed in the 2014 Best Doctors in America® national database, which includes more than 45,000 physicians in more than 40 medical specialties.

Four Mayfield neurosurgeons are included in the 2014 national listing of Best Doctors in America®:

In January Cincinnati Magazine published its 2014 listing of Top Doctors who practice in the eight counties that make up the Greater Cincinnati region (Hamilton, Warren, Butler, and Clermont in Ohio; Boone, Campbell, and Kenton in Kentucky; and Dearborn in Indiana). This list includes 835 physicians in 43 specialties.

Previously, Drs. Abruzzo, Kuntz, Warnick and Zuccarello were named to the 2013 U.S. News Top Doctors list, which was developed by U.S. News & World Report in collaboration with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., publisher of America's Top Doctors®.

Mark Farrington, CEO of the Mayfield Clinic, commended the physicians included in the prestigious listings. He also noted that all of Mayfield's specialists are superbly trained and highly skilled. “All of Mayfield’s physicians are faculty members in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine,” Mr. Farrington noted. “The physicians they train work all over the United Stated and throughout the world.”

In addition to its list of Top Doctors, Cincinnati Magazine profiled six doctors “whose work has put them on the path of technological innovation and change.” Those featured included Mayfield’s Dr. Ringer, who was selected for his leadership role in the development of the Endovascular Neurosurgery Research Group (ENRG), a collaborative of cerebrovascular neurosurgeons from more than 20 leading institutions. Members of ENRG (pronounced “energy”) are committed to sharing outcomes data about stroke in an unbiased fashion.

Cincinnati Magazine developed its Top Doctors list by sending surveys to more than 5,000 area physicians with current medical licenses and asking them whom they would turn to if they, a family member, or friend needed medical care. Doctors who received at least five votes from their peers were included on the list.

The Best Doctors® database of physicians is based on a biennial peer-review drawn from surveys of tens of thousands of leading specialists who were asked whom they would send a loved one to for treatment in their specialty.
