Mayfield’s Tonya Hines, CMI, elected President of international Association of Medical Illustrators

CINCINNATI – Tonya Hines, CMI, Art Director for the Mayfield Clinic and University of Cincinnati Department of Neurosurgery, has been elected President of the Association of Medical Illustrators, an international organization dedicated to the advancement of science and medicine through visual media.

Ms. Hines, a board-certified medical illustrator, is a member of the Mayfield Clinic’s award-winning communications team, also known as Glia Media™. The agency provides a broad spectrum of services in academic publication, symposia, patient education, web, social media, and healthcare marketing.

A winner of numerous honors for illustrations and patient education, Ms. Hines draws upon left-brain problem solving and right-brain creativity to clarify and illuminate complex medical and scientific concepts. She has broad experience in medical publishing, patient education, web development, design and corporate identity. She specializes in the illustration of brain neuroanatomy, neurosurgery, brain and spine surgery, otolaryngology, and neuroradiology. She also serves as a business advisor on copyright and licensing, fair use, metadata, and problems of image piracy and orphan works.

Ms. Hines earned a bachelor’s degree in medical illustration from The Ohio State University in 1990 and joined the Mayfield Clinic in 1991.
